When you get a request to make the most stereotypical cheesy romance novel cover you possibly can…you go all in! I used a photo from a photoshoot i did in a Ghost town in Montana of a girl in the red dress. From there I used stock images and masking in Photoshop to add the detailed elements that made up the book matter. I had fun with colors and layering, and painting in Illustrator and Photoshop as well to add lighting effects and atmosphere to give it that dramatic cover Romance novels are known for.
It is amazing that I can take parts of each of these photos and mask them to create the elements of the cover. Its like a game of I-Spy…can you find where i put all these on the cover. This is just a few.
